Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Ride Opens at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ride is now open at Disneyland Park in California, adding to the immersive adventures inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The ride brings guests into the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance, including a face off with Kylo Ren. The journey takes guests aboard a full-size transport shuttle and then into a nearby Star Destroyer on a thrilling adventure that blurs the lines between fantasy and reality. One of the most immersive, ambitious and technologically advanced experiences in Disney history, the attraction uses multiple ride systems working together to create a seamless story on a cinematic scale.

I am probably one of the few who haven’t been to Star Wars land yet. Though I expect there are other like me. Personally I am just waiting for things to calm down and then I will go enjoy it. The Mandalorian – Official Images From The Disney+ Series

Over the weekend at the Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, Disney showed off four official images from the highly anticipated Disney+ series The Mandalorian. At the official panel during the celebration fans were treated to both images and sneak peeks of footage from the show. While the footage is not being released to the public yet, check out the photos below.

Overseeing the show panel were the show’s creators Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. When talking about the look and feel of the show “Getting back to the roots of what inspired George Lucas, the westerns and Samurai films. That period of time in history that was so fertile, the time of the 7 Samurai,” Favreau said during the panel.

The Mandalorian will launch on Disney+ on November 12th, 2019.

Actress Gina Carano as Cara Dune a former Shock Trooper.

Actor Carl Weathers as Greef Carga as the Leader of a guild of bounty hunters.

Another great shot of Actor Pedro Pascal in The Mandalorian.

Lucasfilm Holding Off On Star Wars Spinoff Stories

It’s being reported that Lucasfilm is putting a hold on all of their Star Wars Story spinoff movies. Instead, they are putting all their focus on Star Wars IX. Because of their newest spinoff story “Solo: A Star Wars Story” was considered a failure by box office standards, movies in development like previously rumored Obi-Wan movie and the recently announced movie Boba Fett that Logan filmmaker James Mangold was in early talks to write and direct aren’t going to see the big screen any time soon.

All of this news comes off of “Solo: A Star Wars Story”. The film brought in $84.4 million on its opening weekend and has seen $192.8 million domestically so far, with $339.5 million worldwide in four weeks. Which to level it up to any other movie it would be considered a huge success, but this is a Star Wars movie we are talking about. The expectations are extremely high for the brand to succeed.

The writing was on the wall that Solo wasn’t going to be as big as it could have been. Between opening up in May to competing with Deadpool 2 and Avengers: Infinity War, the movie market was oversaturated with huge movies that were just too close together. Plus with the news of the firing directors, Phil Lord and Chris Miller during the production and then bringing Ron Howard to replace them sadly gave the movie a negative look, which in reality wasn’t true. But perception is the reality in this case.

For now, Lucasfilm is going focused on the new Star War trilogy that was announced. Writer and director Rian Johnson will create a whole new trilogy that will focus on new characters. Plus they are also putting time into the series of films that will be written by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

It will be interesting to see where Lucasfilm will take Star Wars and if the spinoff movies will come back.

Star Wars Robot Vacuums Are A Thing

I find that I haven’t grown out of having toys. They just tend to be cooler and more expensive as I get older. That’s why when I saw that Samsung was coming out with Star Wars Robot vacuums I geeked out quite a bit. I mean serious putting “adulting” chores and Star Wars is a win in my book.

The vacuums have a full view sensor which is so good that it can avoid things like chair legs or a wider area. They also have a bristle brush and drop-down shutter to capture dust trapped in corners and along the edges of walls. You can also remotely control the vacuum through an app on your phone or use voice control with Amazon Alexa or the Google Assistant to control it.

But the best part about the vacuum it comes as either Darth Vader or a StormTrooper with pre-installed iconic phrases and sound effects while it’s working.

The downside of it? To Buy the Vader version will cost you $799.00 and the StormTrooper version is $699. For more information check out the video below or if you are a diehard Star Wars fan you can buy one here.

Use the Force For Good! Lucasfilm Launches Initiative to Benefit Stand Up To Cancer

I like when I can post something to get the word out about something positive. So it was nice to read that Lucasfilm announced today that in celebration of the September launch of Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray, it is linking up with celebrities, eBay and Major League Baseball to ask fans to Use the Force for Good to support Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C). SU2C funds groundbreaking cancer research that will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives.

The campaign will launch today with a video featuring celebrity Star Wars enthusiasts encouraging fans to Use the Force for Good and join Lucasfilm in donating to Stand Up To Cancer. SU2C Ambassadors Aziz Ansari, Zach Galifianakis, Bill Hader, Ed Helms, Ken Jeong, Jaime King, Seth Rogen, Andy Samberg and Emma Stone – along with Star Wars alum Samuel L. Jackson – will each Use the Force for Good as they recreate classic Star Wars scenes to raise awareness for cancer research. The all-star video tribute appears on the Star Wars YouTube channel youtube.com/starwars.

Also, eBay will use the Force of its 97 million active members to give fans an online destination for browsing unique and special Star Wars items: ebay.com/usetheforceforgood. The destination will allow fans to bid on rare and exclusive items like a one-of-a-kind Star Wars edition 2012 Volkswagen Passat and a once-in-a-lifetime experience; dinner with prominent Bay Area filmmakers George Lucas, Chris Columbus, Francis Ford Coppola, Philip Kaufman and John Lasseter. All charity auctions will begin on September 16th at 4:00 p.m. PDT, and continue until 4:00 p.m. PDT on September 23rd.

Star Wars and SU2C have also created a Stand Up To Cancer line of Star Wars t-shirts. The tees will feature iconic Star Wars artwork alongside SU2C’s signature upward arrows, with slogans like “Blast Cancer” and “Use the Force for Good.” The exclusive tees are available now and can be purchased through the end of the year at store.standup2cancer.org/shop with proceeds benefitting SU2C.

Then, throughout the month of September, select Major League Baseball Clubs across the country will feature Stand Up To Cancer/Star Wars themed nights in their respective ballparks. The special events will offer Star Wars themed ticket packages with a portion of proceeds benefitting SU2C. Most packages will include appearances by Star Wars costumed characters, VIP fan photo ops, giveaways and the Star Wars Stand Up To Cancer exclusive t-shirts. For a list of participating Clubs, game schedules and ticket information, please visit MLB.com/StarWars.

Since its launch, Stand Up To Cancer has grown significantly with support from players, fans, and all 30 MLB Clubs. Major League Baseball was a founding donor to Stand Up To Cancer in 2008 and has donated more than $30 million to the groundbreaking research organization since its inception.
