Wizard Entertainment Inc. announced four new events to the 2019 calendar of Wizard World conventions, including the return to Los Angeles (June 8 at Sony Pictures Studio Lot, Culver City, Ca.), fifth visit to Tulsa, Okla. (Sept. 6-8 at Renaissance Tulsa), third event in Pittsburgh (July 26-28, David L. Lawrence Convention Center), and first trip to the Bay Area (Oakland, Ca., Nov. 22-24, Oakland Convention Center).
What caught my attention was the Los Angeles event which is, in fact, a Ghostbusters Fan Fest. If you were or are a fan of Ghostbusters this event was basically made for you. This will be a once in a lifetime event celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the 1984 film. Celebrity guests include Director Ivan Reitman, Actors Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and more! With all the recent news of The Joker movies and even a Harley Quinn movies coming to the big screen, it’s not surprising to hear that over at Six Flags Over Texas, in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment, have announced the next generation in thrill rides and the first-of-its-kind in the world called the HARLEY QUINN Spinsanity. Inspired by the movement of a gyroscope, this record-breaking attraction delivers unpredictable, gravity-defying flips, twists and turns. HARLEY QUINN Spinsanity will take its rightful, villainous place alongside THE JOKER, CATWOMAN Whip and THE RIDDLER Revenge in the park’s GOTHAM CITY section.
The ride features a unique futuristic triple box design that allows the gondola to spin around three separate axes while rotating forward, backwards and sideways simultaneously at up to 70 feet in the air. Seated 24 across with over-the-shoulder harnesses, riders will experience a thrilling combination of negative and positive gravitational forces. By night, the attraction promises to light up the North Texas skies beckoning thrill seekers from near and far.

DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. have partnered up with SON Events to create the inaugural DC Wonder Woman Run Series. Designed to empower the hero in all, this 5K and 10K movement will encourage participants to harness their inner strength.
The first event in the DC Wonder Woman Run Series will take place on September 22, 2018, in Sacramento, California. While other runs will include Oakland, California in October, Los Angeles in November, and San Jose and San Diego to be announced soon.
Each event will kick off with an expo where participants will be able to collect their race packets, bib numbers and purchase exclusive Wonder Woman merchandise. This one-of-a-kind race will culminate with a finish line that will offer a festival for both participants and spectators.\
“Wonder Woman is one of the most iconic and well-loved Super Heroes of all time,” said Mark Knutson, of SON Events. “We’re excited to give fans a new and unique event by providing an inviting, fun, and empowering experience where people can enjoy a great course, and bond with other fans while being active.”

After making their debut at Taco Bell stores this past January, Nacho Fries are back for a summer sequel, returning to menus on July 12. To celebrate their return, Taco Bell will honor the 25th Anniversary of Warner Bros. Pictures’ action sci-fi film Demolition Man and its prediction of a utopian future where “all restaurants are Taco Bell,” with a re-creation of the iconic restaurant from the movie.
“When you create a fake trailer for a fake movie for a real product that surpasses all expectations of products (and movie trailers), it seems inevitable that you have to create a sequel,” said Marisa Thalberg, Chief Brand Officer of Taco Bell Corp. “And what better way to tease this sequel, than pay homage to a real movie’s 25th anniversary – one that had a very compelling view of a fictional future?”
Demolition Man, a 1993 Warner Bros. Pictures’ cult-classic in its own right, gained fame for its utopian predictions of 2032 – where Taco Bell was the only restaurant to survive the Franchise Wars.

MTV announced the launch of MTV Studios, a new unit focused on developing new series and re-imaginations of its most iconic hits for partners across SVOD and Linear. MTV Studios will develop and produce a full slate with a focus on beloved series, franchises, and spin-offs that span MTV’s 35-year history.
MTV Studios’ initial slate includes a reimagined version of the feminist icon “Daria” with writer Grace Edwards from “Inside Amy Schumer”; cult sci-fi hit “Aeon Flux” from “Teen Wolf” creator Jeff Davis; groundbreaking reality series “The Real World” and an update of the Emmy Award-winning coming of age unscripted series “Made.”
The slate will also include two new titles including “The Valley”, a coming of age docuseries in the spirit of “The Hills” and “Siesta Key” which follows a group of young friends growing up in the Valley town of Nogales, Arizona, a city split in half, with one side in the United States and the other in Mexico. Also included is “MTV’s Straight Up Ghosted,” which follows young people trying to reconnect with lost friends, lovers and family members and confront them about why they have been ghosted.
“MTV has the biggest collection of hit youth franchises that spans more than three decades of content and over 200 titles, part of which have fueled our resurgence,” said Chris McCarthy, President of MTV. “With MTV Studios, we are for the first time ever opening up this vault beyond our own platforms to reimagine the franchises with new partners.”

Hosted by Tiffany Haddish, last night’s “MTV Movie & TV Awards” scored a 21% increase across the simulcast with 3.371 million total viewers. The telecast was the number one most social show in all of television, even beating the World Cup. It was the most streamed “MTV Movie & TV Awards” ever with 84.6M streams and counting.
The official #MTVAwards was trending #1 in the U.S. and globally on Monday for the two-hour telecast. Additionally, three of the top winners of the night, Michael B. Jordan, Chadwick Boseman and Chris Pratt, all trended in the U.S. during the show.
