It was a slow Easter weekend at movie theaters as Warner Bros and New Line’s The Curse of La Llorona took the top spot with only $26.5 million. This actually topped the expectations of the movie as moviegoers are looking for new horror movies that raise the bar. This, in turn, gave both studios their third straight weekend at the number one spot.
In second place was Warner Bro’s Shazam! with $17.3 million. So far worldwide it’s made $322 million and it’s only on its third week. I expect the number to hit somewhere between $350 and $400 by the time it’s done. Simply because Avenger’s Endgame is coming out this next weekend and will dominate the charts for some time.
Third place saw Fox’s Breakthrough with $11.1 million. While fourth and fifth place saw Captain Marvel and Little with $9.1 million and $8.4 million. Check out the full top ten list below.
